Week 1: Welcome to the Rodeo

Event: The Highland Rodeo Roundup

The campers have officially arrived at Highland Saddle Club, but before they can call themselves true rodeo stars, they must prove they have what it takes. This week, campers become rookie cowboys and cowgirls training for the biggest rodeo event of the summer.

From the moment they step into the barn, campers are welcomed into the world of western riding, teamwork, and rodeo tradition. Throughout the week, they will work to earn their place in the winner’s circle by completing daily rodeo challenges, learning important horsemanship skills, and proving they have what it takes to become true barn champions.

Each day brings a new rodeo mission. Campers may compete in barrel racing style games, boot relays, “lasso” competitions, horse care contests, western trivia, obstacle courses, and team challenges designed to test both their riding skills and teamwork. Every challenge helps them earn badges, points, and bragging rights for their team.

Campers will also spend time learning the foundations of horse care including grooming, tacking, safety around horses, and daily barn responsibilities. Riding lessons focus on confidence, control, and strong riding basics while helping each camper feel successful in and out of the saddle.

Western themed crafts, dress up days, and fun rodeo surprises throughout the week keep the excitement high and make every day feel like a true summer adventure. The camp staff take on the role of rodeo judges, keeping score, awarding points, and making sure the competition stays exciting all week long.

By Friday, the week builds up to the final Rodeo Roundup Showcase where campers compete in their final events and family and friends are invited to come watch them shine during the family horse show. This is their chance to prove they have officially earned their place as rodeo stars at Highland Saddle Club.

Welcome to the Rodeo is the perfect way to kick off summer camp with confidence, excitement, and a whole lot of western fun.
